Restaurant Managers: 2 Killers Ways Restaurant Apps with Location Finder Can Boost Your Number of Diners

Posted on

If you are a restaurant manager, an owner or are responsible for the marketing and advertising of your restaurant, we have written this blog series specifically for you. You may or may have not heard about how some larger chain restaurants are using apps to increase the satisfaction of their customers, or to bring in more diners.

What you may not know, is that many smaller restaurants are now doing the same. Are you? If not, should you be?

OK, instead of getting into a panic and getting straight on the phone to the next mobile app developer you can find on Google, “just because it’s what everyone is doing”, let’s take a look at one feature that could drastically improve the sales of your business!

Ask yourself these 2 following questions. If you answer yes to either (and I can guarantee that if you are passionate about what you do, you’ll answer at least one of them) you will see how having a restaurant app with GPS and location finder features could change the face of your business for the better:

Do you serve up fantastic food, but your restaurant is hard to find?

If you answered yes, there is a huge opportunity to make word of mouth bring you amazing marketing benefits.

A restaurant app will represent all the best of your business, the food, the ambiance, the pricing, as well as a variety of practical information, such as menus, calorie counters and news updates.

One amazing feature that your restaurant could really benefit from is location finder and integrated maps. Imagine the following, quite likely, situation:

Two friends are talking, one is visiting from afar. When asked which restaurant they recommend in the areas, the local friend recommends your restaurant, along with a few others. They have been to your restaurant a few times and have downloaded your app. They mention your place is difficult to get to, but then remember that your app handily has the option to use maps to locate where your restaurant is, and automatically come up with the directions with how to get there.

By this time, they have spent 5 whole minutes taking about your restaurant- that’s a lot of time in this day and age. They have the app in their hands, with the directions right there. The local friend mentioned how amazing the food is, this now seems like a practical discovery that is already in the palm of their hand. There is now a real strong case for the friend to visit your restaurant. Perhaps, once they have viewed your menu on the app, and decided to just go for it. Now all you need to do is dazzle them with the food. And find out how that will then bring you more sales in itself…

Is Your Restaurant Something to Write Home About?

Literally! Hopefully you answered yes!  Maybe it’s a unique ambiance or decor, maybe its live music, maybe it’s a unique recipe you have invented, or perhaps it is the most simple beautiful feature of any restaurant: the food is fresh and especially delicious.

The amount we love to take selfies and pictures of our food and post them all of the net is astonishing. Not to mention to amount we love to show off where we are at, or broadcast what we are doing. Facebook give sus the option to “check in” where we are. At the 02 listening to Beyoncé live? You a really going to want to check in. At a quirky café, or a Michelin start restaurant? Your friends definitely need to know that.

To put it bluntly, it’s all about increasing our social status. Although we will never admit that! The fact of the matter is, the average Facebook user spends 700 minutes on Facebook. What’s the likelihood that one of those minutes is in your restaurant? And would it help one of your diners social status if they checked in on their status at your restaurant? You have their 300 friends who view the name of your restaurant and where it is. You also have a picture of your food with the location and name with a description if you are lucky enough to be visited by a food blogger fanatic (oh- and the number of food bloggers is growing, didn’t you know!)

Make it obvious for your diners to show you off. A personal and natural recommendation goes along way and is a force to be reckoned with. That’s word of mouth marketing you can’t even buy- but if you could, I’d like to bet you’d pay a lot for it.
